No Connection from Vgate iCar Pro WiFi & iCar Pro 2S to Bosch ME17.9.11 in Hyundaii30 - hmdwrn - 10-01-2025

Hello everyone,

I am using two Vgate adapters:

iCar Pro WiFi

iCar Pro 2S (Bluetooth)

Both adapters work flawlessly in other vehicles: connection is established immediately, error codes and live data can be retrieved. My smartphone also pairs without any issues (WiFi or Bluetooth).

Problem: In my Hyundai i30 with Bosch ME17.9.11 (part number 39112-2B125), no connection to the ECU can be established. Tested with various OBD apps (Torque, CarScanner, etc.), result is always the same: “ECU not found.”

The adapters themselves and the smartphone are fully functional. The issue occurs exclusively with the Vgate iCar ↔ Bosch ME17.9.11 combination.

Question to the community: Are there known limitations, protocol issues, or solutions for this ECU/adapter combination?

Thank you in advance!

Hello,

Are you aware that your vehicle's protocol may not be supported by the app? You may wish to contact the developers of the Car Scanner app.

Likely a protocol mismatch — your Hyundai’s ECU uses K-Line, which Vgate adapters often don’t fully support. Try a genuine ELM327 or OBDLink model. Human Expenditure Program

Thanks for sharing! Seems like many people have the same problem with Bosch ME17.9.11. I will try ELM327.99 nights in the forest

Your problem is not due to a broken VGATE, but because the Bosch ME17.9.11 ECU on the Hyundai i30 has protocol and security limitations. To connect, you need a more specialized device and cannot use a common OBD-II adapter.
