Firmware update fails! - mr_city - 11-30-2024 Hi! Please help me with firmware update of vLinker FS USB. So I followed this instruction: https://community.cyanlabs.net/t/updating-firmware-and-initial-setup-vgate-vlinker-fs-in-forscan/5539/2 I downloaded vLinker FS_USB_v2.3.02.zip and installed CDM21228_Setup.exe. Then I installed also CDM212364_Setup.exe from https://ftdichip.com/drivers/vcp-drivers/ (although I am not sure if I needed to because it feels the same as CDM21228_Setup.exe). And THEN I tried to run vLinkerFwUpdater v3.6.exe from the same zip. I carefully followed instructions (chose vLinker_FS_v2.3.02.txt file) but got the message "**Failed** Please power on the device again!" WHY??? And do I really need this firmware update? The light is blue and COM port is being recognized by windows. RE: Firmware update fails! - mr_city - 11-30-2024 (11-30-2024, 04:50 PM)mr_city Wrote: Hi! RE: Firmware update fails! - sabrina23 - 02-12-2025 I suggest reinstalling only CDM21228_Setup.exe, using a USB 2.0 port, and running the firmware updater as administrator after restarting your PC. RE: Firmware update fails! - SSD - 04-21-2025 I have this same problem. I am trying to update from firmware 2.3.02 to 2.3.04, however I am not getting a blue light on my adapter, just a brief yellow LED flash when I try to update. I have tried vLinkerFwUpdater v4.0 as well as an older version vLinkerFwUpdater v3.5, however neither version can Read my adapter, or update it with the firmware txt file, and I get an error : Port is opened! Change the baud rate to 2Mbps! **Failed** Sending error on 109 line! **Failed** Please power on the device again! I tried at baud rate 2Mbps but i just get the Failed message. The adapter seems to have partially updated, as I no longer get any Blue light when plugging it into a USB port at all. The only light I now get is a brief yellow LED flash as I try to Read or update the firmware. So it seems something is faulty with either the firmware, the update process/application, or a faulty adapter perhaps? It did previously light up blue when plugged into a windows laptop, so it does seem the firmware update has caused the issue, and I can no longer re-upload the firmware to correct it. I stumbled upon an older firmware file, 2.2.91 beta 6, in the forum and flashed it to that version. Once that succeeded, I flashed the 2.3.04 version. I was having the same issues after a failed update that was done through Forscan. This fixed it. I don't know what was on my adapter previously and I was about to write it off as dead when I gave this a try. I've attached the file I used. Maybe it will work for you. |
