MC+ - Better security
thoms > 05-15-2025, 08:24 PM
Hello,
I just got a vLinker MC+ to use with Hybrid Assistant. This means the vLinker MC+ should stay plugged all the time.
However, the BLE stay open to any connection, no need to press the physical button. This allows any random person to connect to the car via BLE, even with contact off.
It would be a great security improvement to require pressing the physical button to allow any new connection not only for bluetooth but also for BLE and MFi? -

I would like to second that. I own a vLinker MC+ too and while the pairing button seems to enable Android pairing, it is continuously discoverable for IOS.
Is there a way to disable bluetooth discovery after pairing with an Android device?
I don't feel comfortable having a device plugged in to my car, that has BT permanently enabled.
It would be a lot more convenient to keep it plugged in without the risk of an unpaired device to connect. -

Hey, that's a really good point — I actually hadn’t thought about the BLE side staying open like that. It definitely seems like a potential security risk, especially if the car is parked in a public place. Requiring a button press for *all* types of connections (not just classic Bluetooth) makes total sense. Hopefully the manufacturer can push a firmware update to add that option. Thanks for pointing it out!

I totally agree, requiring a button press for all new BLE or MFi connections would add an important layer of security, especially when the device stays plugged in full-time.
