USB 3.0 problem? - k4wtan - 07-11-2024
on a laptop with USB 2.0, everything works properly. I connect to forscan and was able to update vLinker. Unfortunately, on my second laptop, which only has USB 3.0 ports, I have a problem with connecting to the Forscan interface and when I run the update program, I receive a notification about a connection problem.
Any ideas?

Hello.
The connection failed because you failed to update and occupied the port number of the device, so you can't connect, you just need to re-upgrade the device in a computer equipped with USB 2.0, the device will be back to normal after a successful upgrade!
To connect in a computer that does not support USB 2.0, you need to purchase an adapter that supports USB 2.0, and connect the device to the adapter and it will work normally.

I'll try with this adapter, but everywhere they write that USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with USB 2.0, so this shouldn't be a problem

I bought an adapter but unfortunately it still doesn't work. After connecting the vlinker via the adapter, I receive the information "USB device not recognized"
Polish support claims that in the case of USB 3.0 the device may not work properly. It's a pity that they don't write about it in the specifications

There are two reasons for the vLinker FS USB device "USB device not recognised"
1. The driver is not installed, or the wrong driver is installed.
2. Your computer cannot support the USB 2.0 interface.
Solution
1.Reinstall the driver in ftdichip.com, if you don't know how to install the driver, please contact support@vgate.com.cn
2.If you can't support USB 2.0 port, you can try to plug it into other USB port of your computer, or buy an adapter that supports USB 2.0.

1. I installed the drivers from the vgate website https://vgate.pl/do-pobranie/ so it seems that they should be correct.
2. As I wrote, I bought a USB 2.0 adapter but it didn't help :/

If you make sure that you have installed the correct drivers, then you can detect the device via an adapter that supports USB 2.0
