  • vLinker FS Bluetooth and BimmerLink/BimmerCode on IOS

The vLinker FS Bluetooth looks like the ideal tool for Ford using Forscan on iOS, because it's MFi certified by Apple and so has much lower latency than almost all other tools according to Forscan: https://forscan.org/support/show_content...nd_adapter

But I need to be able to run BimmerLink/BimmerCode on iOS as well, so I want a device that supports all BMW models as well as Ford. BimmerCode don't list the vLinker FS Bluetooth as supported for their IOS app here https://bimmercode.app/adapters/ , instead listing vLinker MC+ Bluetooth as supported on cars since 2008

But the vLinker MC+ Bluetooth isn't as good with Forscan, and isn't even listed as supported by Forscan from what I can see.

Does the vLinker FS Bluetooth work on BMWs using iOS and BimmerLink/BimmerCode? Is it just missing from the supported list because it's new, and they haven't tested it yet, or are there actually features in the vLinker MC+ Bluetooth which make it better for BMWs, and better supported on BimmerLink/BimmerCode?

    Thanks!

vLinker FS BT can support FORScan and BimmerCode.
However, in BimmerCode, you need to use BLE channel to connect. We have uploaded the latest version of firmware updater, VgateFwUpdater, which can change the connection mode of vLinker FS BT from MFI to BLE+BT3.0, and of course, you can restore it if you need to use MFI after the modification.
If you need to change the connection method, please contact support@vgate.com.cn, I will send you the manual.

Is it possible to select the Bluetooth connection type for vLinker FS with Android?

Some apps in Android use BLE channel connection, you can also modify BT+BLE to use BLE to connect the app.

Thanks admin for explaining clearly about the ability to switch between BLE and MFi on iOS. I have a related question: block blast
With Android, does switching to BLE mode require a firmware updater like on iOS, or can it be set up directly from the app?
Performance: Has anyone compared the latency between BLE and BT3.0 on Android? Is it worth prioritizing BLE?

It's more that BimmerCode hasn't officially tested the FS Bluetooth yet for BMWs.
Also, there might be small firmware or protocol handling differences between the FS and MC+ that matter for BMW, even if they don't for Ford.

The vLinker FS Bluetooth adapter is not officially listed among the supported adapters for BimmerCode on iOS. The BimmerCode website specifically lists the vLinker MC+ Bluetooth as a compatible adapter for BMW models from 2008 onwards

Thanks for the info! It seems the vLinker FS BT can work with BimmerCode by switching to BLE mode, though the MC+ may offer better BMW compatibility. Has anyone tested both for latency/performance differences? Would be helpful to see real-world comparisons before choosing. Schedule 1 Calculator

Does the vLinker FS Bluetooth work effectively with BMW models on iOS when using BimmerLink or BimmerCode, despite not being listed as supported, and could it be that it simply hasn't been tested yet for compatibility?
