Vgate iCar3, Missing power button
noboruwataiya998 > 09-28-2023, 06:00 AM
Hi.
I bought iCar3, BT3.0 but it seems that there is no power button. When returning to the car the device is not powering itself when turning on ignition. The only way is to pull it out from socket and re-plug it in. I hope that I am missing something because this is not acceptable for me, as I want to let the obd device always plugged in. I also tried from phone app, i thought that is in a sleep mode and the app could wake it up. But no luck.
(As a side note, the documentation inside the box is about iCar2 which has a power button, so not helpul either)
Any advice? -

Hello.
The icar 3 only has auto-sleep but not auto-wake function, only the icar 2 has added a button, you can wake up the product by pressing the button.
If you need to wake up automatically you can buy icar Pro or vLinker series products.
icar Pro can support petrol car auto wake up, not electric car wake up.
The vLinker series supports both petrol and electric vehicles. -

The iCar3 doesn’t have a power button and may not auto-wake if your car’s OBD port doesn’t power with ignition. You could try an OBD extension with a switch or check with the manufacturer for options. -

It sounds like the iCar3 is designed to stay powered on continuously without a power button, but if it's not waking up with the ignition, you might want to check for any firmware updates via the app or reach out to customer support for further assistance.

Same issue here with the iCar3 BT3.0—no power button and won’t auto-wake with ignition. Replugging every time is super inconvenient. Hoping someone has a workaround or confirmation if it’s just a design flaw.

I understand your frustration with the iCar3 not having a power button. Unfortunately, it seems that the device is designed to remain off until it's re-plugged into the OBD socket. Some users have found that it powers on automatically when the ignition is turned on, but this isn't always the case.
You may want to check if a firmware update is available for the device through the app, as this could potentially address some of the power issues. If the documentation is misleading, it might be worth reaching out to Vgate's customer support for clarification on this model. -

Appreciate the info! I was on the fence between iCar Pro and vLinker, but since I drive an electric car, sounds like vLinker is the way to go.
Wish waking up the device was as fast as how you dodge those neon tunnels in tunnel rush! -

The iCar3 lacks a power button and doesn’t always auto-wake with ignition, so re-plugging is often needed. Checking for firmware updates or contacting support might help. If you want seamless wake-up, consider alternatives like iCar Pro or vLinker—especially if you drive an electric car. Just like in color rush game, where timing and speed matter, having a device that wakes instantly can make all the difference!
